A player becomes the winner if they have the best three-card pairs (more value in terms of ranking) or if all the other players have ‘folded’. How To Play Teen Patti – Getting Started and Gameplay

The first and foremost step is to decide who is going to be the dealer. Typically, this is done by selecting a card at random from a shuffled deck of standard cards. The player with the highest-ranked card becomes the dealer. In the subsequent rounds, the other players get a chance to be the dealer as well, and this assignment typically moves in a clockwise direction. 

After this, every player bets a minimum value to the pot. Some people call this an ‘ante’. This is the base amount the pot will have, and on each forthcoming round, players will add to this pot if they want to continue staying in the game. If the Teen Patti game is played with a limit, the maximum pot limit for each round is usually 1024 times the base pot value. But as mentioned earlier, you can play without any limit as well. 

Following this, the dealer deals with three cards, first to themselves and then to the players. For the players, the dealing usually begins from the left of the dealer and moves in a clockwise manner. At first, the cards are dealt face-down for everybody. 

The game round begins with the first player to the left of the dealer. Now, they have two options. They can either play seen (they get to see the three cards that they have been dealt with) or play blind (they do not see the three cards that they have been dealt with). If the player chooses to play blind, they have three options – either fold the hand and quit the game, contribute the minimum pot amount or double it. If the player chooses to play seen, they have three options – either fold the hand and quit the game, contribute double of the minimum pot amount or contribute four times the minimum pot amount. The bet that the player makes is called a stake. 

The game continues in a clockwise manner. The player has an option to fold or contribute to the pot if they want to continue playing in the round. The amount a player needs to bet depends on the stake that had been set by the earlier player, and if the player is playing the game in blind mode or seen mode. 

The players can request a side-show. The condition for this is that you must be a seen player, playing after another seen player. Also, there must be at least three more players playing the game during that round. With the previous player who had played before you, you can request a side-show. Note that the player can either accept your side-show request or deny it. If they do accept it, then you can show your cards to each other secretly. The player whose hand ranking is the least will be eliminated from the game, and the round continues in a clockwise manner to the player next to you, like earlier. 

The players can also demand a showdown. This is possible when only two players are left in the game after all the other players have either folded their cards or have been eliminated due to lower hand ranking. One of the two players can call for a showdown to compare the card. The player with the higher ranking of the card, will win the game and get the entire pot. 

Concept of Alternative Showdown:

This happens when there is a pot limit. For instance, if the pot limit is 1024 times the minimum stake amount put by the players at the beginning of the game, then all the players need to show their cards once they reach this pot limit. 

Overview of the Hand Ranking 

Knowing which hand ranks above the other is fundamental to playing Teen Patti. Here is a simple summary of the same:

• The best hand is always three similar cards regardless of the suit they belong to or the colour they have. For example, a trio of three aces or three 9 cards. 
• The next best hand is three sequential cards that belong to the same colour and suit. For instance, a trio of the Ace Card, 2 Card, and 3 Card or the trio of King Card, Queen Card, and the Joker Card. 
• The next best hand is three sequential cards that belong to different suits. 
• The next best hand is three cards that are of the same colour and suit but are not in sequence. 
• The next best hand is where two cards belong to the same rank regardless of the suit they belong to or their colour. 
• The next best hand is when three cards are neither in sequence nor have the same value and do not belong to the same suit.
