Westbound I-40 reopened near Route 66 Casino After a Scorching Crash
The Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office wrote on Twitter Sunday afternoon that all roads west of Interstate 40, west of Albuquerque at Mile Marker 143 near Route 66 Casino, have been closed due to a direct collision. Officials say two people have been killed and another is in critical condition. At 6:25 pm, the western side was opened.
Two people were killed and a third was seriously injured in a head-on collision at Interstate 40 around 4pm. On Sunday, a Bernalillo County spokesman said.
The crash involved an erroneous driver driving east on the I-40 route west about three miles east of the Route 66 Casino, said Jayme Fuller, BCSO’s public information officer.
Fuller said he did not know if alcohol was involved in the accident. The victims’ IDs were withheld while relatives were notified.
All vehicles heading west were initially closed after the accident. The Westbound departure reopened at 6:25 p.m., announced by BCSO.
The Interstate Highway No. 40 near 138 miles west of Route 66 Casino Hotel to the west of Albuquerque was closed by the Berratino Police Department. Officials say many people were injured. One woman was pronounced dead at the scene and another woman was identified under the car. A male passenger was evacuated by helicopter to a University hospital. All vehicles heading east and west were closed.
The collision had caused inconvenience to the residents and the I-40 passenger traffic. The I-40 is a busy national highway and the diversion had caused the citizens to take longer diversions. The accident was the first one in the radium of Route 66 casino. The Bernalillo County Sheriff took hold of the situation and reviewed the circumstances.
The Route 66 casino was severely hampered by the situation that prevailed aftermath the accident. The people who wanted to reach the Route 66 casino had no alternative route. The diversions were made from long halting roads and the Route 66 casino faced a loss. The Route 66 casino made a strong condemning statement following the accident.

The I-40 road is now open for commuters and the people can visit the Route 66 Casino.
