Macau Casino Regulator Expands Staff Ahead of 2022 Licensing Renewal
Today, DICJ has confirmed the appointment of 14 new senior management staff. DICJ officials said the appointment would work in one of four skills – DICJ inspectors, section chiefs, department heads, or deputy office directors. The DICJ has promised its 14 new party members at a closed media event due to ongoing epidemic problems.
DICJ has a major role to play in assuring the Macau government that its major gaming industry is playing by enclave rules.
Six Macau operators compete in the world’s largest casino. They won $ 36.5 billion in 2019 prior to the epidemic – three times the state of Nevada that reported sports revenue that year.
Extended Management
Two years after Macau was transferred to China by Portugal in 1999, the employer decided to end Stanley Ho’s reign in gambling casinos. China’s Central Region (SAR) – one of the two in China, the other in Hong Kong – created the DICJ in August 2001.
A total of 21 businesses bid on Macau’s gaming licenses. In February 2002, Macau had successfully announced the contracts for three reputed firms known as the Wynn Resorts, Green Entertainment Pvt.Ltd, and the Ho’s SJM Resorts. Three additional operators, MGM Resorts, Melco Resorts, and Las Vegas Sands were later granted operating rights.
DICJ’s role in overseeing the operation of casinos has increased significantly over the past two decades. Six casino factories were allowed to extend from the nearby Macau downtown to the nearby Cotai, where many multi-million dollar resorts are located. Macau also allowed six companies to operate small hotel-casinos across the region.
All the six casino licenses are about to expire in the coming June month. Macau’s lawyers are finalizing a new rule for establishing new gaming licenses for operations.
Macau has set aside some DICJ funds to regulate future regulatory terms. In June, the regulatory authority announced that it would provide funding to the department to increase the number of inspectors from 192 secured positions to 459 positions.
Macau also pays the casino administrator in addition to its management and senior staff.
Gaming Outlook
DICJ says it will help Macau improve its sports industry in the years to come. An important part of the new work environment that follows the issuance of new sports licenses is law enforcement.
By the end of 2020, Macau had 41 active casinos operating. Twenty-five is found on the Macau Peninsula, and 16 are in Taipa.
Galaxy Entertainment recently confirmed that despite the COVID-19, the company is moving ahead with the third and fourth phase of its Cotai expansion. The company spends more than $ 6 billion on growth programs.
