DURANGO STATION CASINO RESORT DEVELOPMENT IN LAS VEGAS GAINS LOCAL APPROVAL

Local approved the DURANGO STATION CASINO RESORT to develop its new casino. They have been waiting really long to get the approval for the project to choose vacant land, which is in the southwest of the Las Vegas Strip. The name Durango Station is the name given to the casino by the Station Casinos.

The Spring Valley Town Advisory Board voted in favor of Station Casino’s plan this week, which was to build a casino resort on a 71-acre plot of land that was owned by the company for more than two decades. The site for their new casino is located on the west side of South Durango Drive and the 215 Beltway, just to the south of IKEA.  The Durango Station wants to build a gaming space measuring 99,000 square feet, paired with a 452 room hotel, plus 20 000 square feet of outdoor dining space. It’s all written plan of the station’s design which was suggested to more than 1 000 hotel rooms and a complex that more closely resemble the strip.

Station casino serves the local market in southern Nevada. Its casinos throughout the Las Vegas Valley offer area residents to spare them from the hustle and bustle of the strip in Las Vegas, along with offering first-class service and amenities. Yet, some of the residents in the Durango area have raised their voices saying that the casino might bring heavy traffic to the neighborhood area. Station says they will try to ease such worries during Tuesday’s meeting and will come up with a solution. Rebecca Miltenberger, a real estate attorney representing station casinos on the project, told the crowd that “ the project before you proposes a much less intense use, we are presenting a plan to you that includes just over 400 hotel rooms and a reduction in gaming floor space.”

A resident Debra Korak told TV show eight news now after the casino meeting that “kids are not careful about crossing the street, and the traffic on Maule street has significantly gotten worse.” He also said that if the resort entrance with Maule Street is not altered, the project should not move further.  Also, some other residents too raised their voices for more development ideas from the station.

The company said that the main aim of the station is not only for gaming, the development is going to be two-phased, they will further bring a movie theatre to the property and also various restaurants will be brought on the site for the other residents.   The culinary union was in attendance at the Durango Station public meeting, some of the laborers in the meeting also raised their voice against the same issue about the traffic and some more of the congestion fear. 

Station Casinos and Culinary have long been foes, as the company’s portfolio of casinos largely remains union-free. Station responded to the group’s presence at the Durango assembly.
